Junk Removal vs. Trailer Rental: Which Option Fits Your Auburn Project?

Full-service junk removal is the right call when you need lifting, loading, and disposal handled by a crew — estates, rental turnovers, upstairs items, deadline-driven work. A trailer rental is the right call for small DIY projects where you can safely load everything yourself and your vehicle meets towing requirements. Below is the honest side-by-side.

The decision table

Choose full-service junk removal when…Choose a trailer rental when…
You need lifting and loading helpYou can safely load everything yourself
Items are inside, upstairs, or in a crawlspaceItems are already accessible
You have a strict completion deadlineYou can work on your own schedule
You're handling an estate or rental turnoverYou have a small DIY or moving project
You don't have a properly equipped tow vehicleYour vehicle meets towing requirements
You want Toss It to handle disposalYou already know where materials will go

Important service distinctions — what Toss It actually rents

  • 6x10 utility trailer — $50/day. Ramp gate, 2" ball, 4-pin connector.
  • 20' Big Tex car hauler — for vehicle transport (cars, UTVs, small equipment), not household junk.
  • We do not rent dump trailers to the public. Our 7x14 dump trailer is only used by our own crew during junk-removal jobs.

The 'cheaper' comparison — read this before deciding on price alone

Trailer rental almost always looks cheaper on the invoice. Then reality sets in:

  • You spend a Saturday loading, driving to the landfill, and paying dump fees
  • You pay for fuel both ways
  • You lift everything twice — once into the trailer, once out
  • You handle any injury, damage, or scheduling change yourself

For big cleanouts, when you honestly count time and effort, full-service is usually the better value. For a small DIY move — genuinely cheaper to rent.

Frequently Asked Questions

+Is trailer rental cheaper than junk removal in Auburn?
Trailer rental is almost always cheaper per day on paper — but the honest comparison includes your time, your fuel, your dump fees, and the physical lifting. For small DIY projects with an able body and a properly equipped tow vehicle, renting is a great deal. For estates, cleanouts, upstairs items, or tight deadlines, full-service removal is usually the better value once time and effort are counted.
+Does Toss It rent dump trailers?
No. Toss It's rental inventory is a 6x10 utility trailer ($50/day) and a 20' Big Tex car hauler. The car hauler is for vehicle transport, not household junk. We do own a 7x14 dump trailer that our crew uses for junk removal — but it's not rented to customers.
+What tow vehicle do I need for the utility trailer?
The 6x10 utility trailer uses a 2" ball and 4-pin electrical connector. Most half-ton pickups, SUVs, and Jeeps can safely tow it. See our utility trailer guide for the full checklist before you show up at pickup.
+Can I hire Toss It to load a rental trailer for me?
Not as a stand-alone service. If you need loading help, book a full junk-removal quote instead — we bring the trailer and the crew as one package.
+What if I'm not sure which option fits my project?
